Just returned from spending Father’s Day weekend with my parents in Seaford. I like to walk around when I’m there and I decided to snap a few shots to with my phone to share with you:

It’s such a shame to local economy has gone so far downhill and there don't seem to be a lot of bright spots on the immediate horizon. Too bad someone local can't see a potential little tourist town with a few boutiques, 1 or 2 B&Bs, a small bistro or two and pontoon boat floating down river and back summer evenings at twilight. The existing infrastructure isn't that much different than that of some other small Eastern Shore towns that have made this investment. I realize this won't happen, but it's fun to imagine.

I've always thought the same thing, its a shame Delaware hasn't taken advantage of its waterways like MD has. Chesapeake City come to mind, there is no reason we shouldn't have a few towns like that.

Default Seaford Pix - reprise

HI folks - I was back in Seaford visiting family again this past weekend. I like to walk around the central area after dinner and this past weekend snapped a few pictures with my phone. This reminded me of the thread I opened some time ago. When I just looked, it appears I broke some of the links to the original pix, so with your indulgence, I'll re-post what I think were the originals and post a few more from the past weekend.

As for the new pix, the first is a pic of High Street:

Then I walked around Pennsylvania Avenue as well as Pine Street and captured some pix of houses I found interesting:

Finally, a "landmark" all locals would recognize:

These should all be familiar sites to beachliz

Though the quality of the shots taken with my phone is lacking a bit, I hope you enjoy.

As always--great shots, Pine to Vine! Yes, I do recognize quite a few locations.

(I must admit I was confused at first, but then I saw that you were "formerly jm02" and then it hit me....)

Thanks. I figured you'd recognize quite a few shots.

Yea - the username. When I first logged on a few years back I thought I was gonna ask a question or two about moving to Philly and then move on. Why not jm02? Years later I'm stuck with a name not nearly as clever as "beachliz." I thought why not change it? Not sure if you know it, but the old nmemonic folks up this way use to define the boundaries of a Center City Philadelphia is "River to River and Pine to Vine."

Enjoy the beach! You've had some amazing weather this year.

This is such a nice main street, looks lovely. It's an hour from the beach. If it had more amenities, I'd certainly consider it.
