But the question is which airport is more convenient in terms of being less congested, less time for security screening, better parking, etc? PHL or BWI
I am looking at job options in Lewes and would have to make similar choice in airport if it materializes.

"Convenient" and "Congested" = In the eye of the beholder. As demonstrated on this forum, everybody has their own opinion.

that is why I brought the subject up. PHL is overpriced and I choose never to go through it as delays make it an impossible airport. Utilizing an airport within reach for most residents in Delaware I would think the powers that be would try to influence airlines to use the Delaware airport. Your no tax would seem like an advantage to persuade airlines. Hopefully the proposed airline Moxy will look at the Delaware situation as they would not be competing with themselves at either BWI or PHL.

^^^ It doesn’t take much longer to drive from downtown Wilmington to PHL than it does to reach ILG. In fact, PHL is actually closer to the northern suburbs. PHL is located between Delaware and Philadelphia right off of 95, so those traveling from Delaware don’t even have to come near the city to utilize the Philadelphia airport. So there goes much of the argument that flights from ILG would be more convenient for northern Delawareans.

Numerous airlines have tried to make a go of it at ILG through the decades. The most recent was Frontier a few years ago which couldn’t even make it with cheap flights to about a dozen or so locations: https://www.usatoday.com/story/today...vice/29462763/. I wouldn’t hold my breath that another airline might have the magic formula to change ILG’s viability for commercial flights.

Delaware is a small state with a small population very close (perhaps too close?) to several major cities. This, of course, has its pros and cons. It is a wonderful state in many aspects, but if anyone is looking for the conveniences and amenities of big city living, they had best look elsewhere.

Delaware having no airport sucks for those who live below the canal, but for those of us living in Northern Delaware, the distance to Philadelphia airport is just fine.

I don't think so. BWI is our choice.

I don't know about BWI, but depending on where you live below the canal that may be over a two-hour drive. Let's say you lived somewhere in Sussex County like Lewes. You are much closer to Salisbury Airport than Baltimore airport, although depending on where you want to go Salisbury may be much more expensive and have more connections.

Yea, BWI may be convenient for people in Kent CO (dunno?), but it isn't particularly convenient for folks in Sussex County. When I used to live further way and would visit family in Seaford, I would either fly into SBY if I could get a good fare, or into PHL and pick up a rental car.

It takes nearly 2 hours to reach BWI from Seaford (the first half of the trip on back roads), and it is even further for residents from Georgetown and the beaches. And forget it if the trip falls on a summer weekend with all the DC and Baltimore beach traffic. OTOH, the drive from PHL to Sussex CO can be made on divided highways the entire trip, whether via Route 13, Route 113 or Route 1.
