New Castle is a historic town within New Castle County and the county has highest population in the state. It's full of developments and old neighborhoods, not to mention Wilmington. Are you interested in Old New Castle?

It might be a bit better for those of us who might reply to give us a little more to go on. For example while safety is pretty easily defined, nice, isn't. What do you consider nice? What are you looking for in terms of a place to live? Townhome? House? Budget? Your age - not necessarily the number- but college age - middle age- senior? What do you enjoy doing? If you are a stay at home, book reader and tv watcher, who goes to the grocery store vs an out and about ,always looking for something to do and some place to go - the replies might vary.

There's historic New Castle, which has plenty of charm, a nice riverfront park, and a little bit of a restaurant scene. Frequent festivals in the summer.

Then there's the surrounding area of New Castle, including the neighborhoods off of Route 13. This is not so nice. I'm sure some neighborhoods are better than others, but you definitely want to check crime maps, because there are neighborhoods known for prostitution, drug dealers, etc.
