Hi everybody, my wife works in Wilmington and I work in Washington DC. We both have to be in the office 3-4 days a week. Currently, I am making the drive down to DC from our apartment in New Castle, but we're looking to buy a place next year and would like to do so somewhere in the middle where we can both commute daily. Is there a place in Maryland that is close to a metro/amtrak and wouldn't be a terrible commute for either of us? Open to any and all ideas.

It's going to be a terrible commute for at least one of you. My idea, buy something close to the job that offers the best pay and potential and the other person look for a new job. Commuting 2 hours each way to work is a lousy way to live.

I think a lot depends on the type of community that you are looking to live in. Maybe take a look around Havre De Grace or Aberdeen, MD? I worked in Aberdeen for a few years about 10 years ago. There was (maybe still is) a train station in Aberdeen on Route 40. I think the commute is going to be worse for you; driving form Harford/Cecil County in MD to Wilmington, DE I would think easier.
