This doesn't deal specifically with removal of braces, but it does focus on mitigating my Anxiety related to dental treatment.

You'll do fine but if you're still worried take an advil a half hour before you go, it'll take the edge off for you.
I just remember when I got my impressions taken, before I got braces, it felt like they were going to yank all my teeth out, because of the amount of suction the mold created. Btw, didn't sleep last night either because of the horrible horrible dreams, lol

I got braces when I was 27 y/o and had them on for 3 loooooong years. Hated the tightening of the screws at each visit, was always nauseated, couldn't eat anything hard or crunchy, lost alot of weight. But was SO glad to get them off, and don't at all remember it being painful, guess I was just so grateful they were finally coming off!! The impressions were a little uncomfortable but not too bad. Was not good about wearing my retainer either, so now they have come back out a bit, but very straight. Am supposed to wear a night guard for bruxism, but don't do that either. Too old to teach a dog new tricks I guess!

I remember it clearly - I went in for a regular check up and the Orthodontist was pulling and tugging as usual and said, "How about we take these off a little early?" I asked when and he handed me a mirror.

Doesn't hurt at all. No more uncomfortable than a regular appointment!

My teeth didn't get crooked again but I had teeth extracted before the braces went on to make room for the teeth to move to.

Then much later on when I was in college I had 5 wisdom teeth removed.

That must've been one for the dental journals, since most human beings are only capable of growing a maximum of four wisdom teeth. Most people don't even get all four. And you got five, you little dickens!

"Wisdom teeth" are third molars. This person won the molar lottery:
