This tooth had a root canal and post 8 months ago. The bottom tooth is shifting and hitting it too hard. The crown fell off the tooth/ post and took the tip of the tooth with it. Do I have to have an implant or can we adjust the bottom tooth with braces and reattach the same crown? What does lengthening the post entail? Advice and options are appreciated. Thank you.

You obviously have to have the dentist determine that, based on whether there is enough tooth left to attach a new crown. I have had several crowns fall off and gotten them replaced. I also had your problem of teeth hitting too hard, and there are a couple of things they can do. One is to keep the new crown shorter, but what helped the most for me was a night guard.
Definitely need your dentist to take a look and figure this out. Not all crowns are the same since the size, shape, materials, etc are customized to the situation you bring to the dentist. It's not like a muffler for you car where they are all the same.
