Coming to check out Denver, and hoping to get some good restaurant recommendations. We will be staying in LoDo, but recommendations around Denver are welcome too, as we'll be doing quite a bit of traveling about.

Looking for something family friendly, and prefer non-chain resturants.

What kind of food are you looking for? We have just about everything. Ethnic? American? ??

If you are in Lodo, Dixon's is a favorite of mine. I also LOVE Panzano's. It's on 17th and Champa I believe, on the corner.

Bayou Bob's is ok for southern food. The Rio Grande I love for margaritas and a type of fresh-mex food.

There are tons of spots on Larimer Sq. but those might not be too family friendly.

Hope this helps.

We like everything--not very picky. Just hopeful to check out Denver's best! No fine dining, but just something with great food!

Right there in LODO, in a corner of the old Oxford Hotel, is a seafood house that has a bar decorated as an art deco ocean liner. I suggest sitting in there and eating some very good seafood. IIRC, it's called McCormick's Fish House.

We also liked the Denver Chophouse down in that part of town.

For a quick cup of coffee and light fare, try the Tattered Cover Bookstore, a very large and unique place, also downtown.

Then again, there are a hundred other places down that way to visit.

If you are going to be travelling around, the White Fence Farm in Jewell Avenue between Sheridan and Wadsworth has long been a family friendly restaurant.

Should we mention Casa Bonita on W. Colfax? It's a fun place for kids, but not known for having the best food.

Yes, the White Fence Farm is a local institution! Kids will love it. There are animals to pet and a fun playground . . . and the fried chicken is scrumptious.

Casa Bonita is fun for entertainment but the food is . . . gross. : (
