Hi,

My wife has been trying to find out about if we need to have our vehicles emission tested prior to going to get them registered here in CO. We have a 2004 Toyota Highlander and 2007 Toyota Corolla that were both tested in CA a year ago.

She has been trying to call the DMV here but has been put on hold for a very long time each time she calls.

Hoping a member on these boards can provide a faster (and friendlier) response.

Thanks!

Yep, you need it on any vehicle older than 4 years. When you buy a new car you're exempt from testing for 4 years. You don't need it every year though, I think it's every 2?

In Colorado, registrations etc are administered by county. In your case Arapahoe County

Emissions testing for the metro area is done by Air Care Colorado You will also need a VIN verification, which can be done with the emission test

Check these 2 websites for more info

Unfortunately each state's emissions test is completely independent of each others', so you will need to get both cars retested with Colorado.

Go to a toyota dealership to do the free Vin verification (or whatever care dealership that supports your car). If you go to the emission test place, they will charge you.
