Speaking to my friend who has currently moved from Denver to Las Vegas said I have made a BIG mistake.
Here is the situation I am a mixed (African American and Irish) female, single with no children, college educated and chubby (I love pizza). My "friend" said that "I will have issues living in Littleton due to my race and that I need to move to a more diverse location like Aurora or Denver" (which are 20+ miles from my job).

I have no issues with people of other races, being the minority in a city does not bother me (I have lived like this all my life) so because I have never been to Colorado and I am unfamiliar with the cities, is my friend correct? What is everyone's opinion?
Total nonsense. I'm sure there are occasional exceptions, but I just don't think race is much of a factor in the Denver metro area. Some people just look to think they know what they are talking about to stir up drama. Littleton is a far better choice than Denver or Aurora considering where your job is and if you don't mind it being relatively quiet and suburban, I think you'll enjoy it's character and outdoor opportunities.

Not sure I can tell you much about Littleton's pizza selection, though But head up north a few miles and give BeauJo's a try sometime for a "healthy" <cough, cough>, fun, tasty pie

Hi dragonfly926,

I lived in Littleton on the Ken Caryl side, and I didn't see a whole lot of people who are African American. That being said, none of my neighbors or friends ever expressed any racism. I really don't think you would have a problem with people disliking you for your race. If anything, you might feel out of place because you describe yourself as a bit chubby. There are loads of outdoor activities around Denver, and many people are pretty slim/fit.

And for pizza, the Garlic Knot is reeeaaally good I see a lot of other people who have answered like them too.

As a mixed-race woman now living in Highlands Ranch, I can assure you that race isn't an issue here. One of the nicest things about Colorado is that, while it may not be the most ethnically diverse place to live, no one really cares much about these things. My kids have attended neighborhood schools (elementary - maybe a half-dozen non-white students in the school, and a charter middle school - slightly more diverse) and never once had issues, either.

Can't help you with the pizza thing, as I don't eat it.
