I am moving to Denver August 1 and am scheduling a house-hunting trip. Logic says that the week of July 1 would be the best to see what is available and find a place, but is a terrible week for me. For those of you who have secured apartments recently, does a mid-month search work? It is hard to tell from Padmapper whether apartments begin listing 1 month prior to availability, or sometime before/after that.

Thanks!

Personally, if you HAVE to be in by Aug 1, I would start at least a few months ahead of time. You might have to pay an extra month's rent, but at least you'll have a place secured. If you wait, you may either 1) not find a place or 2) find something that is totally unsuitable for you. I'd be nervous about waiting...looks like things get snatched up pretty quickly.

It's not that hard to do a mid-month move in Denver. All of my moves have been mid-month moves with places available right around the middle of that month.

That being said, you probably want to start looking within a month. It's best to have a place locked up by the time you're thinking of coming out here.

I don't think it's that dire. We haven't made the move yet, but I've done a lot of research, talked with a lot of apartment/loft managers, have already made one trip out, and am making another at the end of the month, and have several options with availability that actually fit our wants/needs. At the very least, there will be some availability in a decent area, but may be missing some amenities.

If you have your heart set on one option, and one option alone, then yeah, it may be a problem. Compile a short list of 3 or 4 places that meet your needs, and go from there. ApartmentGuyz or other similar finder services can be helpful.

Not hard at all. The bf just did it coming from Fl. Rent was pro-rated and $100 security to hold it until he physically arrived in Denver.
