I moved from Atlanta where every other Mexican restaurant offers white cheese dip (to go with chips & salsa), but apparently it is not so common in Denver. Does anyone know of a Mexican restaurant in Denver that offers white cheese dip?

It would appear that queso blanco isn't popular in this part of the country, but I did find this recipe that got fairly good reviews.

A favorite, if incredibly rich, chili in our house might appeal to you, too.

White chili with chicken

Appaloosa Bar & Grill on 16th St. has awesome queso dip, but it's not a Mexican restaurant.

I've really only ever seen white queso dip in the Southeast. I can't think of a single place in Denver where I've seen it on the menu (or anywhere in the United States West for that matter).

Gordos queso dip is in most Walmart (in the deli chilled case)..it comes in plain, mild and hot.
I found this out after craving it when I moved back from Florida! I loved the dip at Ay Jalisco's!
I of course add some pico to it but, it is the closest I have found.

Formercalifornian, I used to always make white chicken chili in Denver, still do occasionally, but I guess you realize that this is not exactly the same thing.

When we left Denver and moved to northwest Florida, which is basically Lower Alabama, we saw that queso blanco dip everywhere (at the grocery store as well as at Mexican restaurants) and were befuddled by it. We'd never seen it before.

I don't really care for it (our kid does) but it seems to be a big part of Southern Tex/Mex cuisine. We're on the northeast side of FL now (Lower Georgia) and it's popular here as well.

In Denver, I did see Mexican cheese for sale quite often. Coco, I guess that (buy the cheese and make your own) or Sheridan's suggestion is the best way to go.

Default So hard to find!

Hello,
While I live in Portland I also grew up in Atlanta. I have been hard pressed to find white cheese dip here. I also tried to find it in L.A. and couldn't find it either. I think they don't have it on the west coast. Every time I try to explain it to people they either give me a crazy look..like "what are you talking about" or they tell me somewhere that has it (but when I go it is NOT at all what I was talking about). It is so annoying! I remember in Atlanta I could buy it at the grocery store so i think I am just going to get my parents to ship me some. It is so disappointing because the cheese dip was one of my favorite things about going to mexican restaurants!

Soon to move to Denver! So been trolling the threads. ; )

In Cali, Applebee's carries Queso Blanco, very yummy. Only restaurant that we've seen it at. My daughter's hubby is from Georgia and that were she found out about it. I wasn't too sure about it, but it turned out good.
