Is anyone familiar with the Southglenn/DeKoevend Park area? If so, I'd love some input!

Do you think it's a good area for a young family - stay-at-home mom with young kiddos? Things like easy access to playgrounds, parks, outdoor pools, and rec centers are very important to us.

What's the commute to downtown like?

Any specific subdivisions in this area to recommend? Looking for a 3 bedroom house - our budget is $300,000 - would love a larger backyard.

Thanks in advance!

Default Good hood

I would look in all quadrants radiating out from the intersection of Arapahoe and University.
I would pay attention to school ratings, especially middle school. School District is Littleton-6
You may have to spend a bit more. But, certainly less than $350K is very doable.
Commute to downtown is OK, not fun.

One of my relatives lived east of the park with her young son and thought it was great.

How do you define "OK"? 30+ minutes and somewhat heavy, but not unbearable traffic?

12 miles
20 miles per hour

Actually not OK for me personally as my present commute is to the office on the first floor. Approximately 6 meters from kitchen to office.

I use to live in that area and it is a very family friendly area. You would be able to get a 3 bedroom house for $300K and there are recreation centers in the area as well as the Highline Canal for walking and biking. Littleton Public Schools have a good reputation and Lenski Elementary is in that area and has been a blue ribbon school in the past. My children both attended this elementary school and I have nothing to say but great things about the school and teachers.

Nah, but if we end up going for the same house we might have a fight!
