I am relocating to Dallas first week of April and my house is in the market, still no offers yet. My job contract ends this month and have to move by the end. What are the stuffs I need to take care of before I move such as shut off water/electricity?, alert ADT security that I am moving? I am leaving all furniture behind since I am renting an apt in Dallas until I can sell the house. There will be still showings in the house arranged by my listing agent. Do I need to cover all my furniture to avoid dusting? What are my options?

Your problem is where your house is ...... you need it "on" the market, not "in" the market

Don't cover the furniture. "Stage" the house. Declutter, declutter. Get rid of everything you are not going to take, except for what you need to stage. Pack the excess and store it (garage, etc). Don't stuff, pack. Make the home neat.

Clean the carpets. Remove any "personal pictures" religious icons, etc. neutralize the home.

Finally ask the agent as to what to sell the home quickly. You can eat up a lot having the home setting there. You are in the selling season. Be hard on yourself and make the hard choices.

Good luck.

We did the same when we moved to Austin. Had showings, of course. We left it all on -- sprinklers etc. Has our neighbor mowed our lawns. Our agent checked on the place.
