We are from Russia. And we are interested to appy for a Denver high public school Fall 2008. Does anybody know about the deadline to apply for a DPS, grades 11-12? Or whom should we contact to get the answer to this question. We've sent the inquires to chosen high schools, however, have not received any reply. Maybe, there's a specific high school counseling service in Denver whom we can address our questions. In general what are the requirements for international students to apply for DPS?

Thank you very much!

If you are a resident of Denver, you will be able to register at the school in your attendance area. If you want to open enroll, the dates vary by school district. I would suugest doing a google search for Denver Public Schools.

Try this phone number:

Welcome Center
720-423-3969

and/or this website

www.dpsk12.org

Both of those are for Denver Public Schools, which is different from the suburban areas; so if you are actually intending to have your child attend a school in Littleton or Arvada, or some other suburban area the info above won't help.

There is no enrollment deadline though for the public school that you would be zoned for in whatever neighborhood you live in. Pittnurse is right though about open enrollment, if you plan to live in one area and send you kid(s) to another area there are deadlines that you will have to check into.

As others have said, if you live in the correct district, you may enroll at any time.
For open enrollment, where you live in one district but attend school in another, the deadline used to be the end of February.
According to this link, the Denver deadline is February 28, with another round beginning March 1, ending August 31.
Here is the School of Choice link:

Message to MobyLL: Thank you very much for you advice about DPS. The case is that now we live in Russia and my daughter will come to Denver to the beginning of Fall 2008 semester. Could you, please, give a piece of advice about whether there is a particular consulting center or smth.like this in Denver to address the questions about international applicants?

Message to cil: Thank you very much for your link, it's very helpful!!!

Message to pittnurse70: Thank you for your advice. Actually, I've done a google search a lot and got a great amount of information about DPS.
