Hi,
My wife is being transferred to Aurora early next year. We want to live in the Cherry Creek School District and I have heard good things about Mission Viejo.

I am wondering if any home owners know if the Mission homes contain asbestos in the walls or the attics. I can't find any information as to whether or not they do. I know many of the homes were built right as asbestos was being phased out, so I'd assume many have fiberglass for insulation rather than asbestos, but thought I'd see if anyone knows for certain.

I'm not worried about it, but my wife is.

As a side question, what is the commute from Mission to downtown like?

Thanks!

Mission Viejo was a large developer and home builder until the 1990's here. They developed Highlands Ranch before they sold out to Shea.

Why narrow your focus to one subdivision so soon?

Asbestos can be dangerous when remodeling. Most popcorn ceilings has asbestos. Left alone, it's not terrible. Where Is Asbestos Commonly Found In The Home, When and How Should It be Removed? Asbestos In The Home | CPSC.gov

Mission Viejo is a subdivision in Aurora, CCSD. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missi...rora,_Colorado

I don't think you need to worry about attic insulation. That was rarely ever asbestos. Definitely need to look at popcorn ceiling, but as 2bund says, if led alone, it's not a worry.

Thanks SkyDog77, I am very familiar with Mission Viejo, the neighborhood. A master planned Cailfornication of an Aurora neighborhood. This was back when "master-planned" was more of a new-fangled idea.

It borders Buckley/Chambers and Hampden/Quincy. The plot was bought by the Mission Viejo Company in 1972. Mission Viejo was a builder/developer under the RJ Reynolds corporation.

Two of the streets were named after Rancho Mission Veijo's California matriarchs Alicia and Marguerite.

I should have put "also" between "They" and "developed" just to give people reading an idea of their reach into the residential real estate in the suburbs of Denver.
