I am relocating to Denver from Virginia January of 2015. My office will be located in Centennial right off of I-25 and Lincoln Ave. A smart person would say live somewhere close to where you work, but I really love the downtown area as my older brother lived in the area for many years. So my question is how bad is the traffic really on I-25 in the mornings and evenings during the work week. I would work 7:45AM-4:30PM so I would be getting to work a little earlier then most and also getting off a little earlier. I do not really mind the commute distance, but If I am going to be driving 20-30 mph the whole way then that would not be good. Would the traffic be bad enough to regret moving downtown? Thanks.

I-25 and Lincoln is in Lone Tree in Douglas County not Centennial in Arapahoe County. If you left by 6:45 am on non snow days you would not be in stop and go traffic. Rush hour starts at 7 am and again at 3 pm.

Maybe take light rail?

That's where I work and the people who live downtown take the train, mostly. From what they've said, it's an hour each way, sometimes much more. You'd probably be ok in the morning leaving early, but afternoon you'd hit stop and go traffic.

LOL. As long as there is no accident or broken down vehicle that it is a reasonable speed to expect. The thing is more often than not there is an accident or broken down vehicle.
