Enclosed malls are almost never built anymore anywhere in the country. Even bad climates are getting the outdoor versions.

In the '30s, they'll put domes over them all.

Guess the builder is the same who did Streets at Southglenn. Sounds like same thing, different architecture on a larger plot of land. Will have some apartments and office space as well.

The difference is that it has a terrible development plan. It's spread out and not walkable for one. You will need your car to shop. If you read their description you would think it's great, but when you see the layout it's as big of a let down as the mall on 104th and the new mall coming to Longmont. It has no density, it's spread out and the common areas are of little use. I was happy to see see a new shopping district here, but now not so much. It could be improved as a shopping center in the future with some added density, added garages and some street alterations. As far as using the development for a dense mixed use project, that seems to have been passed on. Anyway, I guess you have to take what you can get and be happy?

Biggest gripe about Southglenn is the inconvenience of parking on Friday and Saturday nights. So I'm sure they designed this with an eye on having this not be an issue. Since there is no residential development a short walk away and no transit having it be a compact walkable space was probably the last thing on their minds.

They're called "Lifestyle Centers". Because one's lifestyle is centered around living above a Sephora.

Awesome news! Property value in most of Douglas County is already skyrocketing, and a brand new Southlands-style mall in Castle Rock will just continue to drive up home values.

For anybody that owns a home in Douglas county, this is nothing but good news.....right? Unless you live right near where the mall is going to be, then your traffic situation getting home might become crappy. LOL

Yes...and no. Douglas County still has serious water issues. The county needs surface water assets. Continuing to draw groundwater out of the aquifer is a very flawed strategy.
