Which are the banks that most people use in Denver metro? Pros / cons ?

What about credit cards? Thanks!

I use USAA, so I have no opinion at all on any of the banks here in the Denver area.

Why not? There are cash back cards with no annual fee. If you pay off the cards in full every month you actually save money. It also helps to build a credit history.

Reward credit cards may subconsciously induce cardholders to buy more. And he probably doesn't see the need for credit in the future, e.g. He may already have houses and cars or be a billionaire.

Makes sense - I hope this is his reason for not using credit cards

True - you have to be very disciplined but it's worth it.

I've pretty much stopped using a debit card at any and all retailers, given the breeches over the past few years and failure to secure card data. (Home Depot, Target, Sony, etc). I use cash or credit cards, all the time. My debit card is only used for withdrawing cash. If somebody harvests your debit card, which is linked to your checking account (and the money reserved for personal finances, mortgages, and bills,) it's far more challenging and time consuming to sort it out with the bank and get the money back. If nefarious activity shows up on your credit card it's stopped and usually completed with one call, so long as you alert them in a timely manner.

Also, for anyone that travels a credit card is a necessity, and offers protection for airlines, hotels, car rentals (don't forget holds on accounts,) backups when away for long periods. And again, unlike a debit card, handling disputes are a breeze.

Unless you have a crippling addiction to spending there's no reason not to have and use credit cards.

How's Bank of the West?

What about Credit Union of Colorado?

I remember 1st Bank as being pretty good and more relaxed (for lack of a better word) than most of the other banks were 20+ years ago, but almost to the point of not being as professional.
