Ok fellow CD posters. Family is coming to visit us for the first time in CO (they live in NYC). Every activity we had planned for them involved the outdoors, because that is IMO CO's biggest draw and I really wanted them to take in the beautiful scenery. Of course, the weather forecast for this week is, ummm, non-cooperative? with our plans

So, I need alternatives.

One thing I thought of was do the New Belgium brewery tour. I am hoping that others might chime in with some ideas for indoor things to do? Another alternative is the Denver Museum of Science but that's only 2 out of 4 days they are here.

So let's hear some indoor activities for tourists

Stranahan's Whiskey Tour, CO History Museum, Denver Museum of Art, Molly Brown Home, if they have kids Denver Puppet Theater or Denver Children's Museum, Casa Bonita, Any Microbrewery in the Area, I'm sure it won't be crowded. Rocky Mountain Arsenal Nature Preserve, Denver Firefighter Museum, Aurora History Museum, Coors Brewery Tour, Celestial Seasoning Tea Tour in Boulder.

Take the Free Tea Factory Tour | Celestial Seasonings

Then lunch on Pearl St. Mall in Boulder.

I also really enjoyed the Colorado State Capitol Tour.

Just an FYI on the New Belgium tour, I think you need to sign up in advance for this. Also, check to make sure that they are still giving them, I believe they were doing some remodeling lately.

Also, I wouldn't give up on all of your outdoor activities. We, we have rain planned in the forecast, but that doesn't mean it will rain constantly throughout the day. Still take a trip into the mountains. Even with the rain, I'm sure it will still be a beautiful site for them to experience.

True. I am worried about driving to the mountains (mom's going through chemo, I want to see how she does in 5000 ft first) . But yea I guess we will play it by ear and watch the hourly forecast as is common in CO

What's her normal altitude? Be really careful with this. Even very healthy people can get walloped with altitude sickness if they're coming from near sea level.

NYC, sea level. Her doctor told her she is ok to fly. She's adamant about flying in, and I am very worried.

It might be best to skip the mountain drive if she's already in a weakened state from chemo. At the very least, make it one of the last things you do before she goes home. Altitude sickness hits up to a couple of days after you come down from the mountain. The cure is lower altitude, so if she does develop it, getting back to sea level quickly will mitigate the severity.

That's what I am thinking, staying at Denver altitude and skipping the mountains till next time. Plenty to see on the front range
