Over the summer, my fiancee and I will be moving to Denver. We are from a much smaller city and have been looking at several different apartments and would like the input of the community to help us in our decision. Based off price, reviews, and amenities, we really like the Broadway Plaza Lofts. Any input on the apartments and/or the location? I've looked up the "bad parts" or Denver and most of what I've found is that it really isn't bad. But what I have found is that Five Points can be sketchy which is pretty close to these apartments.

We are looking for a one bedroom apartment, under $1000, and preferably allows dogs (we don't have one yet but would like to get one). Also, we want it slightly NW of downtown Denver because of school/work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Wow this place is unbelievably inexpensive. I don't think you will find another one bedroom for under 1k in that area. I used to live around there; it was very safe apart from several bike thefts and car break-ins. I'm guessing the reason this building is so cheap is that it is right across the street from the Denver Rescue Mission. But the discount is very substantial: an equivalent unit just a couple of blocks away costs about 50% more.

Well, you will have a lovely view of the homeless people lined up across the street.

Did you used to live there? And that picture is from 9 years ago. Is it still like that?

The Denver Rescue Mission is still looking like that. The rest of the neighborhood though, has completely transformed. I can take pictures of this area and post them here if you want.

Yea one block over is all it takes to feel like you are in another city. Again, that's probably why that building is so cheap (relatively speaking)

So, basically if we can get over the fact that the Rescue Mission is right there, this is a pretty good place to live?

Is there ever a problem living near the homeless? I was reading around and it seems like it's usually not a big deal but just want to confirm.

Usually no big deal, I lived Downtown and they are mostly harmless. With that said, I did see needles in the alley behind our building after a "camp out" and I did catch a guy pissing on a car in the lot. That's to be expected though. I've never been accosted or assaulted by any of them and I doubt DPD will allow that to ruin the image of "beautiful Downtown Denver". It depends on your tolerance level really.
