My husband and I are thinking about the possibility of moving to Centennial Colorado. We currently live in orange county California and I love our area although it is insanely expensive to live here. I don't know anything about the Centennial/Denver areas and would like to get as much info as possible regarding schools, crime, livability.
We have two kids age 10 and 11. Our budget is around $450,000 but would probably plan to rent first to make sure it's the right fit for us. Any info would be great or any recommended cities close to the Denver area would be great.

Consider Cary, NC instead.
More affordable.

What is it about Denver that makes you want to move? Do you have a job already lined up (I am assuming you do as you mentioned Centennial specifically).

Centennial is a strangely laid out "town", it's basically a narrow east-west area that has choppy borders. You can be in Centennial by Southeast Aurora or in Centennial by Littleton 25 miles away. Do a map search and you will see what I mean. To give you better advice you'd need to state where in Centennial you are looking.

I do agree that if you are just looking for a change I'd consider other places as Denver has grown to be very expensive to "try out".

Unlike others around here I say welcome! We do need to know where in Centennial because like others have said it is oddly shaped from east to west. I have friends that live in the west part of Centennial near Littleton and it is a great area. I believe they feed into Littleton schools. I can't speak for the east part of it though. It is good that you are thinking about renting first but if and when you do buy you probably will need to up your budget a bit to stay in Centennial.
