So I've been asked to relocate potentially to the Denver Area. I've been looking into where exactly some potential spots to live would be. The job itself in inside of Brighton. We're a family of three, kid about to start kindergarten, like the outdoors, and the cozy town feel stuff. I'm not looking to drop into a 500k house or anything...we live simple, and this won't be a forever home(at least I don't think). any recommendations for potential housing location to check out within reasonable commute distance?

Where are you relocating from?

Sadly, a $500k house isn't anything fancy but rather on the small side of average for the Denver metro although Brighton is probably less pricey.

Yes, probably your best bet. Plus not commuting to Brighton from elsewhere is a good thing. Especially in the winter.

Check the schools in Brighton. Not great from what I remember. As others have said, $500K is not a lot of house here.

Pay attention to property taxes, developer fees, and special districts in the Brighton area.

Brighton, and all the northern suburbs are very suburban in nature, Henderson might also be an option.

What would you want your new community to have?

Are you looking to buy resale or new construction? Townhome, condo or single-family...

I would advise staying east of I-25. But watch out for airplane influence zones (noise)

Yeah I thought about that too. If eldest is just starting K it's probably not crucial to be in top performing schools at this point. Involved parents who can model value in education and present opportunities can overcome shortcomings in early elementary school. If they end up staying they can determine whether the school system is to their satisfaction and then stay or move accordingly.

Brighton, obviously, as others have mentioned. There is a bit of charm to the (very small) downtown area and there are a few small charming farms around the town. As mentioned above, be aware of special taxing districts in the new builds around these areas---the price of the home can be much higher than advertised since the tax bill can be a bit higher than other areas in Colorado.

If you don't need to be near the city, you could venture out to Fort Lupton or Lochbouie. If you'd rather be closer to the city, you options can be limited...probably only Thornton makes sense, though it's more sprawling suburb than cozy town feel.
