First I want to say that I searched, but I couldn't find too much info on East Quincy Highlands and found too much on Aurora so I need to ask about this area. I'm relocating here perm, I have worked in Denver so I'm a little familiar with the area, but not that much. Looking at past posts, allot of people have mixed feelings about Aurora, most say don't move to the N/NE side, but I'm not sure what's considered N/NE. I was looking at a house in the East Quincy Highlands area/subdivision and wondered does anyone have any feedback about this area? The prices seem good, but sometimes that's due to crime in the area so who can be sure. I work in the Springs (Voyager Pkwy), and the only area I really like for my kids is that side of town, but houses seem to be a little higher than I would like to pay. So basically what I'm looking for is a breakdown of Aurora, would this area be worth the drive, or should I just pay a little extra and call it a day?

It sounded like from your post that you're considering commuting to the Springs from there; I sure hope not, because commuting the Springs from ANYWHERE in the Denver area would be a very bad idea. It's not clear from your email if your job has also relocated to the Denver area as well; if not, I'd strongly urge you to stay down in the Springs.

Your particular neighborhood (Quincy Highlands) is really about as far east as you can possibly go and still be thought of as part of the Denver metro area. It is accessible from E-470, which is both a minus and a plus, the minus of course being that it's among the most expensive toll roads in the country.

That said, that far out crime is virtually non-existent, and schools are likely going to be quite good, so those should be the least of your concerns.

Yeah, I work in the Springs. I was considering the commute, I commuted from Denver to the Springs when I was working at HP a couple of years ago and it didn't seem too bad. Considering that I stayed right off of I25 in Denver (Tech Center area), should I consider the commute to and from Aurora - Springs a very different one?

Yes, it is very different, because in traffic it would take you about 40-45 minutes for you to get from your location in Aurora to your old office at HP. (although E-470 would likely cut that down somewhat.) Your office at HP (unless they've moved) was down in the Meridian Tech Park in Douglas County,(I know that people still call that DTC, but it's at the very far end of it). If you wanted to consider something right off I-25 in Douglas County then that might be a different story.

I'm surprised you're not considering somewhere either in the Springs itself or in the Monument area -- although I'm somewhat partial to Denver area, I can't see what Aurora offers that you can't get right down there in your area.

I would hate such a long commute. Springs to Meridian is 1 hour on a good day (could be 2.5 hours when it snows). From Meridian, it can be another 35 minutes to 1 hour+ on a snow day. I would really rethink of having such a commute.

Maybe I should have searched for info on the drive between Aurora and COS, an hour one-way drive wouldn't bother me, but 2+ hours one-way is a different story.

Thanks for the input.

I found a house there that we really liked, that was a good price. I think the majority of the houses here I looked at are really overpriced.
