I was all excited to see that Jacksonville made the cut, but then noticed Denver on there too!
Bidding Cities
While such a chance would be wonderful for JAX, I'm not sure we'd get it.
Denver might work out very well indeed.
I noticed that Philip Anschutz is on the US Bid Committee.
They choose the cities by next May, then FIFA chooses the countries by Dec 2010.
FIFA will decide which host country based on the cities offered them.
The influx of tourism would be incredible.
The World Cup is a HUGE deal. My husband went to the one in Dallas in '94, and we all went to Germany in 2006. It was an amazing, cosmopolitan event.
What say you, Denverites? Yea or nay?

Yea. I am assuming it would be at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Don't think that list is a big deal, it looks like the majority of NFL stadiums are up there. Would LOVE for the World Cup to be in the US again though.

It'll be awesome if the WC comes to Denver. The list says it'd be Invesco Field. Usually teams are based in certain cities during the group stage to minimize travel -- if the US and Denver get picked, I wonder which teams will be in Denver.

I'm guessing, but I'd imagine that tix to a WC would be as expensive and hard to get as superbowl tix. Si?

My guess: final match will be Mexico v. Colombia -- who else can compete in high altitude?
