...they are parked on I-94 overpasses in Detroit to protect the Vice President's motorcade. I'd estimate about 30 of them.

And here I thought they were all trying to block off the city to catch a criminal. (I guess I wasn't too far off. )

I thought they were all busy pulling people over for having a burned out headlight.

Does the VP get lesser protection than normal because you don't like him?
What makes Biden a "criminal" in the RW mind?

YES, the VP DOES get more protection than an average citizen, duh! What, you think you should have, or need, secret service protection? Get real.

If he would get his armed guards to step back aways, I'd like to ask him why he and his boss are trying to limit law-abiding citizens from using arms to protect themselves. . .

Wouldn't making his entire motorcade route a "gun free zone" mean that he shouldn't need armed protection? I'm confused here. Someone help me out.

Noone is trying to take away your precious guns, but if you need Uzi's and AK's to protect yourself, you need Jesus because your lifestyle is foul. Have you seen what happens when a block full of dozens of families gets shot up with automatic weapons? Especially by dumbasses who don't know how to use them? As Biden said, a simple shotgun or handgun will suffice. Automatic weapons increases the chances of some innocent bystander being caught in the crossfire by a ridiculous margin.

"On his campaign Web site, Obama says he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and "will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport and use guns." As CNN reported, Obama's running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, told supporters at a Virginia rally on Saturday, September 20, "I guarantee you, Barack Obama ain't taking my shotguns. So don't buy that malarkey. They're going to start peddling that to you. I've got two and if he tries to fool with my Beretta, he's got a problem." Obama supports reinstating former President Bill Clinton's ban on assault rifles, closing what he calls a loophole that lets people buy handguns at gun shows without the same rigorous background checks as at stores and what his Web site calls "commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them."

All they are trying to do is keep guns out of the hands of the wrong people (ex. the teenagers shooting up public places on a daily basis). Do you really think any everyone should just run around carrying whatever type of guns they please?

Confused, yes.
In your book high ranking officials, meaning democratic ones, don't need armed protection? Seriously?
Breaking news - you can't do just as you please. There are "limitations" on many things, they're called laws which you abide by because you owe other members of the society in which you live. Citizens shouldn't have the same resources which the military or law enforcement has.
More breaking news - those assault weapons won't help you one iota against the government, which is what the right-wing paranoia is really all about. You want drones too? You wouldn't have the facilities or knowledge to operate one.
Also, considering the extensive length of the motorcade route, how would you enforce a "gun free" zone - just "declare" it?
Also, all citizens are "law-abiding" until they commit a crime. We need protection from "law-abiding" paranoid gun-toting nutjobs who are mentally near the edge in the first place.
