I advise you to talk to your doctor about a diabetes management class or a referral to a dietician specializing in diabetes control. I got professional advice and customized support more trustworthy and detailed in my class than anything I saw online.

Does your health insurance pay for one or the other?

i still have an issue with portion control tho i'm not sure if it's emotional or metabolic in nature. if it was the former, it's less frightening because there can be things i could do if i knew it was emotional

plus i am going to a fancy schamntzy restaurant in 2 weeks for a paid- for dinner, entrees are as high as $34 and include loin of rabbit wrapped in bacon. if you catch my drift . tho i am not a machine food eater nor a dessert food eater, all my carbs come from my addiction to gourmet type dairy rich foods. maybe i should go with stuff like halibut or salmon that night instead of rabbit
Dont know where you live but there are diabetic clinics in most major cities. you would get the services of a doctor, nurse and dietitian to help you plan a healthy lifestyle around your diabetic condition..
Google Diabetic clinic in your town or city.

Default my glucose

all week upon coming home has been 100 or less and today it was 88. and i don't even feel tired. that's excellent. quite a difference over the past few weeks. carb control did it. instead of hero breads i opt for toasted whole wheat or toasted rye for lunch sandwich and easy on the brown rice

and my bp has stabilized at 120/80 with diovan and lasix. every reading has been 120/80

Default i found a Diabetes Mgt Prg

at my local hospital. it's considered a specialist co-pay visit and they have a 10 hour education session which includes meal planning. meets every Wed at 5PM. i can start in Feb

and i have been feeling especially stable and have not had that tired Diabetic feeling the past week or so. readings all 100 or under.

oh and that restaurant date i had was cancelled so I'm not gonna be having loin of rabbit wrapped in smoked bacon with spinach polenta any time soon!!

Speaking of classes. I heard about, so went and checked it out. The State "Family Services" (same place to apply for food stamps, etc...) has a class on nutrition and they specialize in diabetics. I make way too much but was told I could still attend, for free. So I went. 6 weeks long, covers menu planning, meal planning, and even has a couple nights that the class makes supper. At the end they gave us a FREE cookbook. This cookbook has all recipe's marked with the box showing calories, carbs, percentages, etc, just like on the back of a can of spinach.

It was a fantastic class, the cookbook is outstanding. You might check to see if Family Services in your area does such a thing.

The unique thing about this cookbook is it has you make stock. For instance, you make a flour, baking soda, salt, type mix and store it in the fridge. Now, you want to make tortillias. The recipe calls for 2 cups stock, and then the rest of the ingredients. Outstanding concept and works great. The stock is used in everything from pancakes, to biscuits, to tortillias, to pie crust, etc... Also makes it quick to put together a meal as you've already done half the work.
