Has anyone ever experienced bloating when consuming xylitol and then had it go away as your body gets used to it?
I have been using a small amount of xylitol in coffee, and it causes such bloating my clothes aren't fitting.
I wouldn't be able to put up with this for very long unless I have hope it goes away in a reasonable timeframe. Right now I'm considering tossing the $16 container of xylitol in the trash.
I have not used it in the pure form but it is in almost all sugar-free products such as candy or gum. It tends to give people diarrhea when they eat too much as it has a curbing effect on them. I personally prefer Stevia to anything else, including sugar; 1/2 envelope is enough for a cup of tea.
Oh my, if I try to eat any of the Frankensweeteners or Sugar alcohols I will have painful dynamic winds for at least 24 hours.....a bloated mess. And my panties.....wow, just about have to throw them away.
Hmm... a pharmacsit friend of my DH's coworker gave me some Xylitol gum. I had no Idea what it was until I read this post. I tasted it and it was bleh! I threw it out.
I use Xylitol well. I was told at the point of sale to start easy to adjust. Never a problem. I don't drink coffee so I don't know how it is in hot beverages. The one thing I like is the fact that according to the manufacturer is that insulin is not required to metabolize it.
