I am trying to get in better shape in the year 2014. Just wondering what everyone's resolutions are. Mine will be to go to yoga every morning before work, and light cardio on the elliptical after hours. I also am cutting red meat and white flour from the diet (not entirely, but reducing it to almost zero). What are your goals and plans?

I don't believe in waiting for New Year's to make a resolution. I started a new diet December 5th or so and I've lost 12 pounds so far.

I've basically started eating greens and other fresh whole vegetables, including juicing, legumes, fresh fruit, nuts, certain grains like brown rice and quinoa , and that's about it. No coffee. No donuts. No pizza. For now , no meat, no dairy, canned or processed food, obviously no processed white sugar, white flour, etc.

My heart feels better, my pulse is way down, I have a seemingly constant supply of energy, I'm not thirsty all the time, I seem to sleep better.

I try to eat all the kale, chard, broccoli, spinach, fennel, collards, bok choy, Brussels sprouts, carrots, celery, etc. I can get daily either way through salad or juice, usually both.

So for me, it's a matter of stopping polluting my body with poison, put some good stuff in there, and see what happens. I've stopped wasting money on vitamins.

Have a happy New Year.

I lost 20 pounds in 2013. My goal is to lose another 20 in 2014. But that isn't a resolution.

My resolution/plan is to keep up my current diet/activities, which should keep me slowly but steadily losing weight.

You are my personal hero and I think you're plan/program/way of eating is perfect...I'm going to emulate you and save myself from my holiday sugar/carb fest! I used to eat your way until Thanksgiving--the holidays have done me in!! And the price is not pretty!!

Then you'll really pack on the pounds once you burn out on exercising. Eating well and sleeping well are quite as important.

As far as stress goes, good sleep takes care of that. Not cramming toxins into your body which is easy to do these days will sometimes lead to increased exercise and also make better use of the exercise you may already be getting.

I'm down about 12 lbs since the 5th and heading south of 210 at least half a pound per day.

I'm now looking into gluten removal, adding more cholesterol to my diet, and even less sugars which includes limiting fruit.

Gluten free for me would be really hard right now trying to stay away from meat and dairy.

I hope to add grass fed-meat, wild game, and wild-caught fish at some point.

Anybody in here have an opinion on or experience with raw milk?

Yes, people get sick from it all the time.
