So last fall there I was- age 56, 265 pounds, diabetic, no thyroid and unable to lose any weight in 2 years. I had tried all the fad diets with some limited success but needless to say once you’re off them the weight comes right back. MY wife suggested Weight Watchers and last November I joined.
I am not necessarily going to trumpet how great they are but I have lost 60 pounds since then- but one has to diligently log what they eat and be very honest.
A few things I have noticed.
First, even when I eat the same amount of points from week to week there is a difference in weight loss whether I get my "points" from regular home made food or sugar/fatty foods and too much sodium plays a part. I have also noticed that eating a fair amount of raw vegies makes a big difference. Lastly, exercise (even walking) also makes a difference. A big one. Even in small amounts.
Do not lose heart! If an aging diabetic with no thyroid can lose weight, anyone can.
