So I have been eating Keto the last 7 weeks and have lost 16 pounds. Honestly this is the first thing I have tried that seems like healthy eating and my weight isn't dong the yo yo up and down. I bought a Ketogenic cook book at Walmart and have cooked many of those recipes. I feel the elimination of sugar, low carbs and higher good fat is the reason I am having success. My favorite treat now is sugar free jello with berries and heavy cream on top. I am eating a lot of greens, fish and chicken. I found a low carb treat "whisps" also found at Walmart.
Just curious is anyone else has had success with Keto eating and any great recipes to share?
I tried the Atkins diet back in my 20's and had to quit when, after a week or so, I did not have the energy to walk from the bedroom to the kitchen. I believe it screwed up my metabolism for years afterward.
My friend has done Keto a couple years and is thin like high school ..he is 61. I'm gonna do it darnnit!
I read all of Keto Clarity, loved Atkins 17 yrs ago lost 15 in 2 months, tho...they talk about headaches
and weakness on Atkins...and the whys... to drink some Broth...balance the electrolytes.
I never had the issue, wonder if it's because I love salt?
Sorry it messed up your metabolism!!
I'm not doing a true keto diet - I could never go down to less than 20 carbs a day. But I AM limited my carbs to 50-100 a day (down from 200-250 a day) and keeping my calories to 1500 or less per day. Doing this, I don't feel like I'm being deprived of foods I enjoy, and I've lost 15 pounds in the past 5 weeks. Hoping to lose another 10-15 by year's end and the continue in 2019.

Not sure how you're eating lots of greens and all those berries and cream on keto. Carb restrictions are too stringent for that, although I guess it depends on what you mean by lots of greens.
I wouldn't really worry about it though. I don't think keto is a healthy way to eat, so keep on eating those lots of vegetables and keep at it since it's working for you and don't worry about keto.

I stay under 20 carbs a day. When I say heavy cream, its tiny bit of heavy cream, not piling it on. Greens are spinach and broceli..in moderation. 1,500 calories a day. The thing that I am happiest about is my blood pressure is now 109 sometimes 113 over 70. Before Keto it was 135 over 80

Some berries are fairly low carb, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries are a few. As for heavy cream, it's fine. It's full fat which helps counter the small amount of carbs in it. Regular whipped cream and milk have too much sugar in them.
As for healthy eating, it's all natural fat. It's not fat made by man (e.g. cooking oils like canola). All I know is my weight has dropped even though I'm eating more fat than ever.

Well, that's my point. You're not eating lots of greens. You're intentionally restricting them. You do need to do that to eat under 20 grams a day, but then why do it?

One serving of strawberries, 8.4 grams net carbs. That's 42% of the daily carb allotment. Still need to get vegetables in, plus there's carbs in lots of food. Eggs, for example. On a normal diet two x-large eggs is a trivial amount of carbs. On 20 carbs a day, it's 5%.
Canola oil is natural fat. It's just rapeseed oil. It's not like organic, cold-pressed canola oil doesn't exist. It's not the normal means of production. It's as natural as extra-virgin olive oil. Regular canola oil is more like refined olive oil. Although really the majority of so-called extra-virgin olive oil is not so basically you've at best got a 50-50 chance that the "more natural" extra-virgin olive oil you pull of a shelf is actually anymore natural than canola oil.
