Dog food scores/ratings (science, diet, allergies, cost)

I've been feeding my dogs Alpo Prime Cuts dry food for the past year or so. They really like it but it's been tough to find it in the large bags sometimes and I thought I'd switch to a good food I can always find at Sam's Club. (I'm disabled and can't get out often, so it's best for me to buy a 40 or 50-pound bag once a month for my three dogs.)

Anyhoo, I noticed that Sam's Club carries Merrick Beef'n More so I thought I'd give it a try. I've been transitioning them to this new food and they LOVE IT! YAY! I know the Merrick name is considered a good brand and I Googled to find out more about it.

I found this rating tool and list of dog foods rated. Some of the findings surprised me! (Such as the Eukanuba and Iams ratings!) Thought y'all might be interested. Merrick's Beef'n More ranked really well and it's very affordable so I guess that's what I'll be feeding from now on! Check how your dog food compares with others!

I'm at work and my system won't allow me to access that site. After reading threads here about dog food I checked the brand that I was using and the first ingrediant was corn. Yuck. So I switched to Science Diet Lamb and Rice. Can you tell me what that site says about it?

What I found so interesting about this rating system and list is that it gives folks good information and options. You needn't spend a small fortune on good pet food, especially if your dog doesn't have any health problems or allergies. Also, some of the moderately priced brands apparently aren't worth the extra money!

I think this is valuable insight for folks like myself who have three dogs and for rescuers.

We feed Canidae, which I think is one of the best as far a dry food goes. I don't like brands that have canola oil in it and I try to get kibble that uses chicken fat and/or salmon oil. That's why we stopped buying Solid Gold.
I tried the Natures variety raw patties awhile back, and I think it's a million times better than any dry food BUT it is really expensive! It would cost me a fortune to feed 2 large dogs on it.
