This is such a compelling story I had to share it.

The best news of all is that the Black Lab has been adopted and now has a home.

Today we're bringing you a sad video that shows how a brave black labrador kept vigil—right in the middle of traffic—next to a fallen comrade. Before you go ahead and press play, note that the video does feature a recently-deceased golden retriever, who had just been hit by a car on Hacienda Boulevard in La Puente.

A passing motorist put out traffic cones so that the black lab could lie down safely without meeting the same fate as the golden retriever. A short cell phone video of the pair was sent on to the Los Angeles County animal shelter in Baldwin Park.
