Well, the holding down solid food was good during the day - but she ate too much after her subQ and that was deposited in her crate - so another blanket dirty again and already! I think it's good we own a "kittie blanket" factory (j/k). My septic system will hate me.
But, now that she has barfed her dinner, she is coming out of the crate on her own. She goes to "the daddy" for snuggles now! It's his turn to hold her. 25# puppy is not a lap kitty!
She tried to play ball but after 2 throws she decided her blanket was the place for the ball and a nap.
The best thing is her tail wags more, her eyes are bright and she is exploring a little bit.
We had to leave puppy alone for a few hours today and had no option other than to leave her in kitchen and adjouning living room --- with new leather sofa. Knowing how little energy she has had, we figured she might eat a little hamburg I cooked for her, pee somewhere, and nap.
So we walked in to a puppy greeting us at the door with tail awagging and the large blanket we had covered the sofa with dragged to the other side of the living room and all of the cats' toys on the blanket. Oh, one paper towel partly chewed up and 2 pee spots on the floor. No barfing at all anywhere.
It's actually good news because it means she was busy and active and not just sleeping! YAY! Puppy is getting better.
I fixed her some more hamburg and she scarfed it right down and is now napping in her crate. Meds in an hour.
Sound like it's time to invest in a crate and an x-pen. Those are a lot less expensive than a new sofa, chair, coffee table, rug, etc., etc., etc.
Hook the x-pen to the crate and she's got a den to nap in a space to play with appropriate chew toys. If you have to set it up over carpet just get an inexpensive remnant of vinyl flooring to put down.
LOL She has a crate - we had to close it so she wouldn't keep hiding in it.
x-pen is being considered but she did very well confined to the kitchen last night - ate the puppy wee wee pad but had no accidents at all. Took her out first thing this morning and she peed, gave her the last of her meds and subQ, she ate 2 batches of cooked hamburg, doesn't like the rice or molasses, and she just had her first real poop in a week! YAY Latte!!!! Off to the vet in a few min.

Even more expensive than replacing furniture or mats, rugs, etc. damaged/eaten by puppies and dogs are the vet fees for surgery from intestinal blockage due to eating items. In my various rescue groups, there are way too many stories about emergency surgeries of dogs who have eaten stuffing of couches or pee pads, etc. People don't realize when they say they don't care that much if the dog damages stuff that the real danger is to the dog's health from being left loose.
quick update for NYAnnie.
we took latte to the vet this morning, vet is VERY happy with her progress, no more sub Q's or injectable meds, but a final round of pills to make sure shes kicked this thigns butt.
challengs is now going to be getting her to drink willingly on her own, if NYAnnie can get her drinking on her own another week and she should be "all clear"
shes a different puppy today, its clear in he eyes and posture shes feeling happier
