That is probably true for the Carolinas. Unfortunately, it probably a results of coyotes being forced out of their habitat in other states.

Driving down my driveway on my 10 acres I saw 2 'yotes in my front pasture at 3pmish...they are bold to be out and about in the daylite.

2 in the afternoon, a coyote is in our front yard. Dogs bark out the window, and it continues on its path past that window, 15 feet in front of them, then trots across the street to the neighbor's driveway without any real concern. Tried to grab my camera but was too slow.
