OMG, I died watching this! It took our Karma about six months to be comfortable going through doorways (and even longer for stairs, which still frighten her after two years). She never thought of backing through doorways!
The pit mix we adopted a few months ago was deathly afraid of stairs when we first got him. But after a while he realized the only way he could sleep with us was if he came upstairs and he eventually forced himself up. He is okay with it now, although he does them REALLY fast so that he can "get it over with."
We have an upstairs that is one very large bedroom suite, a bonus room, and a hallway/loft. Our girl is with us two years now and she has never been up there. And since she won't go up there, our other dog doesn't either.
We only use the upstairs for overnight company and every time I clean before company comes, I find almost no dust, no dog hair, and I wonder why I'm cleaning!
