Like the title suggests I had a long time client die suddenly over the weekend. I visited him on Friday afternoon and we had a nice, normal visit. He had an unknown tumor on the spleen that ruptured last night and because of his age and severity of the bleeding the family decided not to attempt any heroics and put him down.

Friday was to be my last visit with him anyway. They are moving out-of-state for a year on a work assignment. I want to do a small meaningful gesture for both the time they retained me and the loss of their beloved dog.

What do you think is appropriate or what has been given to you that you found appreciated? I was thinking maybe a card and some flowers.

I'm sad it ended this way.

I think a card and flowers would be a very nice gesture.

When friends have had dogs die I make a donation to Best friends and they get a card in the mail sent from Best Friends saying a donation has been made in memory of their dog. I will say something like This donation is to help a homeless dog someday know the love that Rover ( whatever the dogs name was) knew.

I agree about making a donation to an animal related charity. If they are in the process of packing and moving, they don't need to deal with flowers.

If you happen to have a picture of their dog, go to snaptotes dot com and have a pillow or keychain made so they can still have their baby with them.Note to mod, hoping I'm not violating any TOS by suggesting the website.
