We have a Collie, male, 101 pounds, very social and friendly.

However, he has huge paws and we have white tile. It gets dirty fast where he eats and drinks.

My husband bought a piece of carpet (like what you would have at your front door) but I thought there was something else out there that might work better and can be washed.

Our other 2 dogs (Shelties) are so clean you can't even see a footprint.

These are inside dogs so they do not eat outside.

Any ideas?

Well they do go Outside.... Try Washing their Paws as soon as they come Inside. Having raised both Collies & Sheltie I don't think I ever had this problem. BTW Door Mats are RUFF! I don't think you should try them.

Default We do that....

He goes outside about 6-7 times a day and my husband is pretty good about getting at the paws.

We will try harder.

But, over a period of time where he eats, it's dirtier than anywhere else. (paw placement)

Maybe if we would put a small piece of carpet by the front door, that would help also.

Thanks for the reply.

Check the yard see what hes getting into. Digging or Walking in poo. Maybe you need to clean the yard. Also Trimming the hair off the paws would help.

Waterhog Mat. I have a 3.5 x 6 ft one that covers my entire front entryway. Lots of colors and sizes on Amazon. I take it outside and hose it down twice a year. Otherwise just vaccuum it. It catches most of the dirt from my shoes and the dog 's feet. When the dog comes in with wet feet, I dry his feet with a towel that hangs by the door.

Pretty much what I do. An older bath towel right at the door is key. Just put a loop on a corner and hang it. It only gets put away if company is due to show up! My dog now waits for me to towel off the rain and clean the grit out of her paws. I also have a smaller washable mat under the food/water dishes. Nothing fancy, just an absorbent cloth mat that goes under a dish drainer.
