LMAO, Highwyre! Your story reminds me a something I heard on "Lauren and Wally" one morning. (WROR) It was about how to get a cat and dog to take their medicine. Have you ever heard it? Having had both cats and dogs, I was in hysterics at work listening!

My dog, Mickey, sleeps either on the floor at the foot of my bed or in the doorway to my bedroom. Total protection mode.

this is the 2nd time i have read this post .... albeit the original was months ago......

my 2 are happily crate trained with the occasional treat of sleeping in my bed, when in bed my female likes to lay as close to/up against my side as possible...
my male likes to sleep between my legs.
both require me to allow them under the blankets lol

I have 2 collies and they start out sleeping in bed with us but the girl goes to her crate after a while. All my dogs have slept in bed with us and they do tend to keep you warm on cold nights.

As much as I have tried in the past two years to get Mickey to sleep with me, nothing will make him stay on the bed once I turn out the light. He was sooo well trained by his original owners that I can't "untrain" him! Which is good actually. He does not jump up on most furniture at all. He will jump up on the bed when I first go to bed but then after playing for a few minutes and lying down, he will just jump down and go into his "protection" mode. I guess I should be grateful but I miss snuggling with my big ball of fur.
