My Neapolitan Mastiff had a MC Tumor removed that was down next to his groin. The vet gave me Tramadol for the pain (had to sign the DEA sheet for it) Tramadol is a sedative. He also gave me Rimadyl for the dog. It's anti-inflamatory and pain killer.
Maybe your vet fills out the Tramadol sheet, signs your name, and takes the Tramadol. It's cruel to not give your dog a pain killer. I'd go back to the vet and ask to see his DEA drug sheet for the day of surgery.
Now we are dealing with the drain. He got it put in 10 days after surgery. He was fine the first 4 days after surgery, but then developed a limp on a his left front leg. and his surgery started to get a seroma. Drain bled a lot first day, puddles of blood. Then nothing for 3 days and now today it's draining quite a lot.
I don't think I would have had the surgery done if I'd known what problems it caused. The dog is 8 and he was not bothered by the grape sized tumor.
