charlie is three years old, when we bought he they told us he was a boxer/lab but we really don't think so. His coat is really shiney, has a bunch of wrinkles around his face and neck area, he is really stocky, has a partial bluish tonuge. Gorgeous brown eyes. Any help or comments would be appreciated.
Yeah, that is what I was thinking, When we bought him when he was like 3 months they told us a boxer lab but I don't see that, but alot of people tell us part bitbull, but with the purple tongue that is an ancestry trait of chow chow or shar pei.
If the tongue is spotted, thats very likely chow. The wrinkled face lcould be sharpei, but it looks pretty boxer-ish from the pic. But also a little pitbull-ish. The body, coloring and proportions are definately lab.
I vote shar pei and lab. The structure of his head looks very shar pei to me and his eyes look jist like Buster's who was a Shar Pei. If his ears were a bit smaller and folded like a shar Pei it might be more obvious.
My guess is lab and boxer. He could also have some shar pei or chow in him (for example, his mum may have been a cow/boxer mix while his dad may have been lap or a lab mix.)
He's very pretty, and that coat is the envy of many a dog, I imagine; it's so shiny, it's obvious that he is very well cared for.
It is just so hard to tell because he has a very wide jaw, his jaw is like double the size of like my golden retrievers. And a big head. Anyone know where you can get a dna test done for cheap to find out what he is. I know they cost alot of money.
Talk to the vet because now you can actually get a dog DNA tested to figure out the breed and I know a couple people who've done it.
