Imagine if this was a Pitbull. I've seen Fox News stories where Pits were involved in much less serious bites and they made them look like demons. All they can say here is that Weims make great family pets and make no mention that any dog breed can bite, regardless if they are known for it or not. Of course, we don't have the full details, but heartbreaking nonetheless.

Terrible. No dog, of any breed, should be left alone with a young child. Very sad for the family.

Precisely. I love my dog, but I do not trust him entirely...he is just a dog, gentle though he is. It's my responsibility to watch, train and care for him, although of course, mistakes can happen.

Many condolences & prayers to the family.

Very sad. But the way the report was done doesn't surprise me. All dog breeds are wonderful, except those pitbulls that eat humans and cats and anything that lives. *rolls eyes*

As a whole I do not like Pit Bulls, but i have met many that are the sweetest dogs. I know that there are exceptions and they should be judged individually. Although I have yet to meet a Weimaraner that has a good disposition. Now, I have only met maybe 5 or 6, but all have been mean or tempermental.
It is terrible what happened to this child and I hope the parents can get over the guilt.

So very sad. I agree - no young child should be left alone with any dog of any breed.

We obviously don't have the full story, but from that article I wonder why the heck a 2 yr old is walking the dog? No matter what breed, small children need to be closely supervised. I'm so sorry for the parent's loss, especially during the Holidays.

Can't imagine what the parents are going through, what a tragedy.

As for Faux "News" (I won't click, no different than CaNNed and the rest) we will never know the whole, true story unless the family/somebody close to the family posts it somewhere, or the neighbors happen to have an evil PitBull that somehow corrupted this dog through the neighboring fence which they would surely "investigate"...

I'd guess freak accident, as in rough play-jerk reaction by dog, as many of these tragedies very well could be....
