Here in Clayton our vet has a cheap vaccination day too once a year. I love to see people go above and beyond in this way.
I had vet come to my house do rabies on 9 dogs. Clinic was weekend before and clinic was same charges but alot cheaper than my normal vet. I paid 25 service fee and 10 per vaccination where my normal vet charges office visit and vaccination of 18.00 usually runs 75-80 just because want rabies vac.
I'm very happy they're doing the free spay / neuter, but only on pits? Oh, are they they only breed that gets put to sleep in shelters now? Weird because I just pulled a beagle / pekinese mix, a 7 week old shepherd puppy, a terrier / chihuahua mix, and super sweet Dogo mix puppy, a shepherd / ACD mix puppy and a drop dead gorgeous red chow that were all due to be euthanized. But I guess we'll let those breeds be put to sleep because they don't wind up in shelters. Certainly don't need to worry about spaying or neutering them.
Good grief. What a way to make sure an excellent idea turns to crap.
I wouldnt think that way mrs. I have a Staff and think that "Pits" are the best breed out there and usually dont like things geared only towards them but if this works they may open it up to a community wide program for all dogs. Fingers crossed
GREATTT!!Its about time theyre doing something to help this poor breed.And yes they are one of the top breeds for euthanasia.More so than any other.They are the most abused breed of dog and they need all the help they can get.
I've got a pit too. She's awesome. I just don't think they should focus on only one breed. Spay / neuter is so important for all breeds. I certainly hope you're right and it does wind up being for all breeds.
I know our s/n clinic has offered the same in the past for pits. It's not that we discriminate against any other breeds, in the contray, we are actually targetting a population of owners that may not otherwise s/n their pit. Unfortunately, there are certain " (-) images" that go along with owning a pit. The more you can educate those owners the more good you do for the breed!
