Service related disability can be anything from almost nothing to 100%... a person can qualify as disabled and still function... not every is a quadriplegic...
This is a perfect example how a worthwhile program can be a slippery slope to unintended expansion and abuse. The expansive give-a-way programs are nothing more than using taxpayer money to buy votes.
This is actually a made-up right-wing propaganda meme designed to be thrown at people to see how often it would stick.
I just upgraded my phone to an iPhone 5s 32GB for $49. The price was right for me, it should last at least 3 years, I like the smaller screen, and anything more just wasn't worth the money to me. It seems that more and more pressure is being placed on folks to part with their money. Consumerism has expanded our economy over the decades, but it definitely has it's negative consequences. Society tells us to buy junk that we don't need and that spending money is suppose to make us feel better. I hate being oversold on anything and I feel like the less educated are more susceptible to this. I prefer to take the long view when evaluating whether or not I should convert my money and future potential money into another asset.
Where in the article does it cite then number of people on welfare who are buying iphones? (hint: it doesn't)

Again typical jobs that pay $9 an hour will net you around $300 a week for 40 hours a week that's $15,000 for 50 weeks of work a year. The majority of those people earning those wages are teens and younger people. Go tell those people they can't buy what they want with their own money.
I know your agenda is about people abusing welfare but this article has nothing to do with welfare.
I'm surprised you have a job if you can't read.
Do you not know how to read graphs? The first graph shows the age of people buying. The ages start at 18, so no they are not "younger people", these are adults.
Second graph shows the income level. Starting at 1 to 15K. Again, you want to delude yourself, knock yourself out, but don't even try to convince anyone with a working brain that welfare people don't have iPhones. I've SEEN welfare people with iPhones.

It is a handout - to corporations and the CEOs who run them, as they are the ultimate winners from all of the revenue gained.
Such handouts to corporations are warmly supported by both political parties as a means of rewarding their campaign doners and their ultimate benefactors. Everyone pays for corporate welfare.
The people on these programs may get some minor residual benefits, nothing that will change their lives one iota, but corporations make out like champs.
People who believe that Republicans want to do anything to stop these programs, and people who believe that Democrats are trying to help the poor, are being naive. This country is more and more being ruled by a small, narrow, but disgustingly wealthy ruling class. We are all being turned into highly indebted serfs working for peanuts.
FYI- so called "Obama phones" are really "Reagan phones." He started the program for the disabled to give them home phone access for emergencies. Since no one has home phones anymore, they now get cell phones with very few minutes a month.
All cell phones, even those that aren't activated, are required by law to connect to 911. Thus, we don't need to give them minutes.
