I paid cash for mine. I paid cash for the 4 or 5 cars before that one. If you spend less than you earn and know you need to have a car fund to replace your car, it's not a problem. My cars tend to last 8 years. Trading an 8 year old car, that's about $4,000 per year in the car fund.
Not enough but they should. Cutting your labor expenses is all well and good from a micro economic standpoint, but it suck from a macro standpoint.
Consumer Capitalism 101.
Each individual company wants to minimize expense and maximize profit. But this naturally leads to aggregate wages getting forced lower, which reduces buying power (demand), which reduces production. Capitalism naturally self destructs. Unless you alter the playing field by forcing wealth sharing via unions, wage laws, taxation and public benefits, etc.
No great mystery. We've known this for at least 150 years.

The Ancient Greeks taxed their colonies in grain not gold. And they had a thing or two to say about what the ideal distribution of wealth should be to.
We need to insist that US minimum wage or better gets paid to everyone making stuff to be sold in the US.
Now if only we could get Americans to buy American built cars and trucks.
They are already buying American built cars and trucks. Remember there 13 major companies in the United States.
However 11 of them are owned by foreign owners, with foreign name plates. But the fact is, they were built in the United States. Only 2 American owned companies build cars and trucks in the U.S. and a lot of them are built in Canada and Mexico. Foreign owned companies build a lot more cars and trucks in the U.S. than American owned companies build. We used to have 3 American owned auto companies, but after Obama sold Chrysler/Jeep to foreign owners it is now only 2.

They are paying the minimum and going wages for their country. Pass laws that our wages have to be paid for anyone selling things to this country, and other countries may pass laws that we have to pay our workers the prevailing wages in the countries we sell things like big commercial planes, as an example. When we pass such laws in this country, we have to realize that other countries will also pass laws that effect us.
We live in a global economy, and this has been going on forever. When this country was settled, most of our things we were able to buy in this country, were made in Europe. Before WWII I was a child for about 10 years. I remember a large percentage of my toys, were made in Japan, England, France, etc. They were not made in the USA back then, any more than they are today. We have bought from other countries, and other countries bought from us.
Whenever we try to be protectionist in this country, the other countries hit us back. Remember that 1,000,000 new jobs are produced in this country every year, by foreign companies having facilities in this country. Start making laws like you suggest, and foreign countries will demand that their companies start pulling out their facilities in this country. There would go 11 different major auto companies building cars in the U.S. leaving us with only 2 and no where near the capacity to build the cars we buy every year in this country. Electronic companies would be pulling out. And the list goes on and on. Companies like Nestle Chocolate, 7/11 stores, and a huge number of companies you do not realize are foreign owned.

Who complains about getting over paid? US corporations should pay US minimum wage wherever the work is done that is all. The velocity of money is dropping and upping pay does a lot to get it moving again.
Obama signed a presidential order that all contract workers get paid $10 US or higher wherever the work was performed.
We are a net importer. Trade wars benefit the importer and hurt the exporter.
