Target has raised "their" minimum wage - again - in order to get the workers they need.
$13 per hour, to start.
MOST employers will pay above MW for the people they keep on...
and SOME will pay more PER HOUR right from the start ...
to the rather few they hire ... for the rather few hours each will get per week.

In answer to your hypothetical questions, I'll offer this: The market will bear what the market demands. And you cannot force something artificial into something natural.
Those minimum wage earners don't get a break, do they? They don't have expensive lobby groups fighting for them in Congress. Every time there is a mention of raising the minimum wage, they are blamed for raising the cost of living for everyone. They shouldn't be blamed. The minimum wage is a lagging indicator. High cost of living is the reason the minimum wage needs to raised so the poorest and weakest among us can live decently.
High cost of living comes before minimum wage increase, not the other way around.

Literally no one in this thread has said "minimum wage workers don't deserve respect", you're making up a strawman that you can pound on. That's incredibly dishonest.
