IIRC - Sun Tzu recommended that war was the last resort when you wanted to control an enemy. Money was the first. He was a very wise man.

Our current leaders are not wise men.

We gain nothing, and risk much and may lose much. Sounds pretty stupid from a business risk analysis, no?

This is drunk cowboy looking to get in a barfight thinking with absolutely no idea the folks they are fighting will just shoot US.

Sure. It is not hard to guess what a drunk driver will do, if you have ever followed one. Not hard to guess what these morons are thinking, either.

But it is stupid from almost any wisdom literature or historic study (which of course were not done). I follow you have good technical knowledge on money and finance, Mircea, and enjoy reading your posts. But this is a different breed of cat. Ever do any reading on Art of War?
I think people are looking at the whole Iran issue way to simply. Look at when this attack Iran rhetoric starts up. I mean to say what events happen that then trigger this response? Give you a hint, where is oil traded and in what currency? What has Iran proposed in response to this apparent monopoly. THen what events have followed as a result of these announcements. U.S. media is HEAVILY censored so you will have to look to outside sources to find these answers.

For those who need a hint:

Google "Iranian Oil Bourse".

Funny how no mention of this is ever made by the "liberal media".

To add more credence to Wild's post..look what North Korea just did - kick out the UN inspectors and said they are going to fire up their nuclear plant again that produces weapons-grade plutonium.

North Korea came right out and said that yet we are still all over Iran because "they might" be producing more than nuclear energy for their own use.

Could it be because North Korea has no oil?

just to add on a little further. Iran started saying it wanted OPEC to move away from dollars and start pricing oil in Euros. This was before they proposed their own oil exchange. America was furious and that's when the whole Iran is evil, they are Muslim extremist blah blah blah kicked up. None of this psycho babble that our leaders talk about is this Us against the evil doers rhetoric they try and pass off. its about Money, Oil and keeping global roles of power as they are now. its the simpletons in this country who know nothing more than CNN and fox that fall for this non sense. we need a serious change in this country, economically, socially and politically. I hope this downturn makes people realize that.

Because those 3 are the ones who caused this. The stupidity in some of these threads is astounding.

Socialism is FUNDAMENTALLY stealing from one group to give to another... that is their base of belief... A Depression steals from everyone but at least all are losing money... with socialism exists in one form or another in multiple countries because they advocate theft, but they are hypocritical because they don't advocate theft from everyone... cause NOBODY likes having their money stolen and would never stand for a complete socialist system...

umm not so much. ALL pay into the system and ALL equally benefit. This is a foreign concept to Americans, the whole "the greater good" thing and all. For us its the whole I got mines so **** off, mentality. Stealing is when you have something of your taken with nothing in return for your loss.
