They let go 1400 people today and the remainder over the next 18 months. It is the first company firing in it's 34 years.

The CEO Steve Ballmer said it may be the worst recession since WWII.

I keep saying this is very sad, where do they think people are going to be able to find jobs when there will be more people out of work than there are jobs??? I so hope we can all get through these bad times..as I dont think anyone is immune to what is going on and do think it will hit more industries as the recession gets worse before it gets better....

Well, they might as well. It's not as if they've really produced anything new in years.

It's about time. Microsoft is a joke and needs to be more competitive. Only Apple seems able to overcharge a gullible public anymore.

Hey - I have been on Macs for over 20 years now - and I NEVER have had the problems w/ ANY of my Macs that my friends have had w/ PCs. So please, don't even start flaming Apple. People pay for the product b/c of its outstanding reliability and user friendliness.

Anyone who has struggled w/ VISTA and then tries a Mac - no going back.

Seriously, the new office is horrible also. I can't open an existing excel document, without first opening up a blank excel first. It's really irritating.
