Wow..remember in June the $134 billion in Treasuries and other bonds caught by the Italian border police ?

Well they just got another $100 billion.

Both times..the people were on their way to Switzerland with them.
At least this time the Secret Service is involved and this is Bloomberg.

Something's up globally..these are too large amounts to be toying with.

Yeah and they said the other 134B was forgeries. Who else wants to join me in the donning of my tinfoil hat and say someone is covering something up?

I am curious as to WHY they feel they need to go through northern Italy... are they trying to sell fake bonds in Switzerland? Why? Is the Swiss of haven of crime?

I'll take just 1% of the real thing home.

I won't complain.

Well, ARE they really fake is a good first question.

We never heard any US official statement on the last batch found.

what i find fascinating on the last treasury "catch" was that the men "disappeared", evidently with the fraudulent bonds. WTH? you are trying to market fake treasuries (at least that is how the story goes) and when caught you don't get arrested but rather are allowed to leave with the forgeries? really?

maybe they can keep these people in custody this time...

that story did not make sense from a logical perspective.

Sorry just had to resurrect this when I read this story.

That first batch of forgeries was in a suitcase and the two gentlemen that disappeared in the night were both Japanese.

Just adding more fuel to this tin foil fire. This guy was the former Finance minister no less.

I remember that guy. Poor sob sounded like a trainwreck at that conference, and I don't even speak japanese.
