hello,

I have a daughter in the 7th grade, she would like to attend one of the new York specialized high schools.

I believe in getting a early start on things, she does not have to take the exam until she is in the 8th grade but I would like to start her on some preparation courses and tutoring.

Does anyone know any turtoring centers that offer courses for the Specialized High School Admissions Test?

There are also teachers around the city who tutor. Look on craigslist and i'm sure you'll find some. Just do a search for tutors.

Kaplan offers programs for a fee.
The NYC DOE has a free program but it is only for families with incomes of a certain level. Specialized High Schools Institute - Middle Schools - New York City Department of Education (http://schools.nyc.gov/ChoicesEnrollment/Middle/SHSI/default.htm - broken link)
