I am given 1 day for every month I work (10 days a year) and I have used 1.5 days (for an abscessed tooth) in the last 2.5years.

Previous position I earned personal(.7 days a month) and sick time (1.3 days a month) and when I was ready to resign, I had accumulated just over 180 hours which I used to cover my "2 week notice." There were some folks there who had close to 2500 hours (after 26 years) and some who had ZERO (after 15 years).

I figure, even if I take a day a month I'll still earn leave at the rate I'm using it.

I have been very sick the last couple of years and have two school-aged children who have been sick too. I use every bit of my sick time and then some. By the end of the year, I usually end up having to pay $50 for a couple of days where I've gone over my allotted amount. The plus side of NOT using your sick days, is that you can cash them in when you quit or retire. I actually had one year where I changed districts and got paid for my unused sick days. It was pretty sweet. Seems like with your 830 hours, you could take an early retirement!
